About Us

St. Lucy Secondary School was officially opened on 28th October 1971 by Minister of Education, Honorable L. Erskine Sandiford. This event was in pursuit of government’s policy of providing secondary education for all. It also satisfied the interest of those persons in and out of St. Lucy who had long agitated for the return to St. Lucy of an institution of secondary education to replace the Parry School, a small secondary school (for boys only) which was closed in December 1951 and amalgamated into Coleridge and Parry School in 1952.

Emblazoned on the crest of St. Lucy Secondary is a 5 point star in the national colours, an emblem depicting the “northern star’ and symbols indicative of the school’s motto: ‘Every Talent to Greatest Use’, a refinement of the original proposal of Mr Lloyd W Austin, Deputy Principal. The school’s patron Saint Lucy highlights the leadership role women in society and the noble use of one’s talents, most fitting goals for a beacon of the north.

On Friday, November 9, 2012, the school was renamed in honour of its first Principal Mr. Daryll Jordan.

School Song

School Song

By the Northern Star our course we chart,
With bearings for our purpose set,
Seeking excellence and truth,
No lesser goals our minds seduce

Refrain
Star of the North are we –
Daryll Jordan Secondary:
Within our hallowed walls
Are opportunities for all.

We journey here from far and near,
With diverse talents to increase,
Our several studies we pursue,
Full focus of success in view.

Contrary winds, they rise, then lull,
But never constant spirits dull,
As God enables learning here,
Our star gets brighter day by day.

Like Virgin Martyr Lucy dear
We dedicate our youth and life
Helping all mankind to be pure
And ever caring for the poor.
