The Good Shepherd Primary School at Jordan's Road, Fitts Village, St. James on three and a half acres of land, dates back to 1887, when the Good Shepherd Boys' School as it was then known, was situated on the beach on rectory lands known as the Barbados Old Fort.

In 1968 the Good Shepherd Boys' and the Paynes Bay Girls' School were amalgamated and renamed the Good Shepherd Mixed School. The head teacher at the time was Mr. S.A. Clarke who was succeeded by Mr. H. Cumberbatch, Mr. R. Hinkson, Mr. Bourne and the first recorded female, Mrs. Beverley Smart who retired in August 1999.

The school had another name change in 1995 when all the senior pupils were transferred to the new secondary school, Alma Parris, leaving only those pupils of primary age. Hence it being called teh Good Shepherd Primary.

School Song

Our school is built on love,
That we cherish everyday,
Good Shepherd may we sing thy praise
When trials come what may

Chorus
Good Shepherd, Good Shepherd
Upward onward evermore
Good Shepherd, Good Shepherd
We're learning as we grow.

Perseverance seldom fails
And we strive to do our best
We put God first what ere we do
And He wil do the rest

With our hands and hearts we toil
And we raise them to the sky
Good Christian men exalt His name
And He wil do the rest

For our school we pray dear Lord
That you bless each one of us
Our staff dear Lord and children too
In you we put our trust
