The St. Michael School was built by the St. Michael's Vestry to provide secondary education for girls of the type given by English Grammar Schools.
The school ws officially opened on 7th May, 1928.
It at present a Government co-educational day school offering free secondary education to approximately 950 pupils from first to sixth form. The school accepted its first class of boys in September 1979. The Sixth Form was reintroduced in September 2011.

The mission of The St. Michael School is to provide high quality secondary education in the moral, social, academic, technical-vocational and physical areas for all students, equipping them with the resources to function successfully in a changing, technology-driven environment.

There are ten (10) Heads of Departments and six (6) Year Heads with responsibilities for Form Levels 1-6.

There are five forms at year levels 1 to 5. Each year level is managed by a Senior Teacher.

Various sports including athletics, badminton, cricket, football, hockey, netball and volleyball.

4th - 5th Form
White blouse, blue A-Line skirt with yellow-striped school tie, white socks and solid black shoes with laces.

White blouse, blue A-Line skirt with green-striped school tie, white socks and solid black shoes with laces.
Male Uniforms
1st - 2nd Form
White shirt with school epaulettes and short navy-blue trousers. Long grey socks and black laced shoes. Plain black belt.
4th - 5th Form
White shirt, long navy-blue trousers with yellow-striped school tie, navy-blue or black socks, plain black shoes and black belt.
6th Form
White shirt, long navy-blue trousers with green-striped school tie, navy-blue or black socks, black shoes and belt.
