About Us

The early history of the The Lodge School - as it is now called - is sketchy, but it is established that a school with seventeen (17) students opened on the present site of Codrington College on the 9th September, 1745.

The school was school was closed on more thatn one occasion, but re-opened in its existing location - former Small Ridge Plantation - on 25th March, 1829. The property had been purchased in 1824 by the S.P.G as a manse for its Chaplin and the first classes - some 11 pupils - were held in what was the Chaplin's Lodge - hence the origin of the name 'The Lodge School'.

The school had from its inception been for boys only and there had always been some boarders until the Boarding Establishment was closed 1979. In 1980, the school, under the mandate from the Ministry of Education became a full co-educational school, with the entry of girls in the first form. Prior to this, girls had been accepted into the sixth form.

School Song

Here we stand where our fathers standing,
Thought the thoughts that are ours today;
Yielded their hearts to the School's commanding,
Tuned their lives to accept her sway;
One with theirs is the praryer we pray-
One with theirs is our Hope, our Light-
One with theirs is the game we play-
One with theirs is our rule for Right.

Still in lore of her legend's pages
Truth like a quenchless star
Set for a sign for future ages
Shines on the years that are
.

Here in the games that are ours for playing
Find we more than the moment's prize-
Shoulder to shoulder our ranks arraying,
Face the future with fearless eyes.
Hence with doubting and vain surmise!
Standing firmly we front the foe;
Whatsoever the days devise,
Life shall call us and we will go.

Ay, and the lesson of this our chorus
Still we bear in mind;
Draw for the fight of the years before us,
Might from the years behind
.

Here in the tasks that are ours for learning
Read we more than the pages bear-
Fan the flame in our spirits burning
Not to be less than our fathers were;
What they ventured we too would dare
Whither they journeyed we set our face-
Long as The Lodge that had these in care,
Stands unmoved in her storied place.

Here in the tasks that are ours for learning
Read we more than the pages bear-
Fan the flame in our spirits burning,
Not to be less than our fathers were;
What they ventured we too would dare
Whither they journeyed we set our face-
Long as The Lodge that had these in care,
Stands unmoved in her storied place.

Memory born of old days shall bind us
Though we return no more-
Still shall the light of the years behind us
Brighten the years before
.
