Level One Coaching Course for Physical Education Teachers

The sport of Table Tennis at the primary and secondary school level recently received a boost through a coaching course offered to physical education teachers by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

ITTF development officer Ramon Ortega conducted the Level One course that attracted 22 participants from a variety of schools. The one week course which started on Monday October 19th, 2015, was facilitated through the Barbados Olympic Association and the Barbados Table Tennis Association. Both organizations were represented at the opening ceremony held at the Table Tennis Centre, which is located on Nursery Drive, Constitution Road.

During his visit to Barbados Mr. Ortega also supervised coaching sessions conducted by coaches who had previously successfully completed the Level One course of study.

Mr. Ortega's visit to Barbados culminated with a ceremony at the headquarters of the Barbados Olympic Association on Friday October 30th, 2015. Certificates were presented to the successful coaches and presentations of equipment made to some of the schools in which there are vibrant table tennis programmes.
